Bertha Jarmany Hunt was born on 22.4.1896 at Playford, she died in Gravesend hospital on 6.9.1966. She married Alfred Thomas Fry on 24.11.1919, Alfred was born on 10.10. 1898 at Ulverdale Road,Chelsea and died in Gravesend hospital on 3.1.1970 In the first world war he was in the Royal West Kent regiment and was mentioned in Dispatches for bravery in the field, saving the life of his officer, a CaptainAnstruther. After the war he worked on Thames Sailing barges and worked his way up to skipper starting with his father. He progressed to motor vessels as Captain on various ships also being Mentioned in Dispatches for action aroung D-day. In the early days of their marriage they lived at Northfleet in Kent. In 1928 they moved to Queen Street, Brightlingsea,Essex for a few years and moved to Erith in Kent in 1932 staying there until Alf retired and moved to a bungalow in Higham,Kent.

They had six children - Mary Jarmany Fry, John Alfred, Dorothy Jane, Joan Margery, Ronald David and Kathleen Muriel.
